Four moments from Fashion Pakistan Week more interesting than the clothes
The Winter/Festive Edition of the Fashion Pakistan Week took place in Karachi last week and more than the clothes, the happenings at the event were what caught our attention. From stars dancing down the ramp to a model helping his fellow model with her shoes to religious songs playing in the background, things at the event were sensational, to say the least.

Some observers distinguish between the fashionindustry (which makes “high fashion”) and the apparel industry (which makes ordinary clothes or “mass fashion”), but by the 1970s the boundaries between them had blurred. Fashion is best defined simply as the style or styles of clothing and accessories worn at any given time by groups of people. There may appear to be differences between the expensive designer fashions shown on the runways of Paris or New York and the mass-produced sportswear and street styles sold in malls and markets around the world. However, the fashion industry encompasses the design, manufacturing, distribution, marketing, retailing, advertising, and promotion of all types of apparel (men’s, women’s, and children’s) from the most rarefied and expensive haute couture (literally, “high sewing”) and designer fashions to ordinary everyday clothing—from couture ball gowns to Juicy Couture-brand sweatpants. Sometimes the broader term “fashion industries” is used to refer to myriad industries and services that employ millions of people internationally.

The advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Mr. Ahmed Raza Khan Kasuri, visited Metropolitan International University College on Wednesday, 6th December 2017 to conduct a lecture on Democracy, Constitution & Rule of Law. Overall discussion was very interactive as the students actively participated in the question and answer session.

As fashion week rolled from New York to London and Milan to Paris — and then to cities around the world from Mumbai and Istanbul to Sydney and Toronto over the last two months, it's been amazing to see #TiedTogether gather momentum along the way, as the global fashion industry demonstrated its support of solidarity, human unity and inclusiveness amidst growing uncertainty and a dangerous narrative peddling division.
The symbol of the initiative is the white bandana, which was incorporated into runway shows or worn personally by designers and creative directors, including Tommy Hilfiger, Raf Simons for Calvin Klein, Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior, Donatella Versace and Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino. Beyond the runway, celebrities and influencers such as Gigi and Bella Hadid, Zayn Malik, Julianne Moore, Naomie Harris and Aimee Song joined the movement.
